Charles,
I'm giving it consideration. Cold weather will kill it for me. If
it's warm enough I may plan to make it.
I am however going to see if I can borrow someone else's legs (someone
fit, obviously), like maybe Chuck Schmidt. Chuck, I don't see your
name on the list. Any chance you won't be using your legs on that day??
Brian Baylis La Mesa, CA Really short on mileage for my old walking sticks. 5000 feet of
climbing translates to "major ouch" for me.
The Southern California Baldy ride is still on:
Saturday November 11 2006.
Meet at 9:30am; depart 10am.
Location: Pioneer Park in Azusa, corner of Sierra Madre and Dalton.
We ride up Glendora Mt. Road to Baldy Village, return via Baldy road with lunch in Claremont or thereabouts.
Some have expressed reservations about doing the ride because they want to do the ride fast and not wait for anyone. That's fine. If you want to go ahead, finish the ride, have lunch and go home and not wait for anyone, I'm cool with that.
For those who want to climb the hill more slowly, Carmen and I will be bringing up the rear in our tandem. We don't expect anyone to wait for us, as long as we all know where to meet for lunch, something that we'll arrange before we leave on Saturday.
So, whether you're a fast rider or a slow one, this is a ride to do. Weather is forecast to be partly sunny and mild. Not too cold!
Current riders:
Charles and Carmen Chris Kostman Sterling Peters
--anyone else??-- I know you're out there. You can do this ride, fast or slow. Trust me, this is a beautiful ride, and not that hard to do. Sure, it's a climb, but a slow, steady climb, and the views are out of this world. 5000 feet of climbing in 22 miles..
See you there!
