Subject: [CR]applying watersllide tranfers?

Hi all, recently the head transfer flaked off my late 1940's Webster of Chesterfield, being a rare make I had liitle hope of finding a replacement then to my suprise and after an ad in the VCC News &Views 2 transfers came in the post ,gratis, anyway I thoroughly cleaned the head tube and choosing the not quite 'mint' transfer I put same in a tray of warm water wherupon it immediately crumbled ,cracked and crazed all over! ...So I am left with a serious dilema, do I try again with what may be the last remaining 'Webby' transfer in the World ,or do I glue a 'touched up' and near as perfect photocopy glued to the head tube?...has anyone used glue to attatch a transfer ?will it neeed varnishing?
