I doubt it unless there's a big difference in the diameter causing one to pull more cable than the other.

What will feel better is a set of Suntour ratcheting shifters. (the downtube equivalent of the more famous barcons) Just my opinion but I consider the shifters the weak link on an early Campy equipped bike. Others will disagree I'm sure.
