Well, summer has fast run away, and we must deal with the crunchy leaves beneath our spinning wheels. So it's time once again for the more or less monthly meeting of the Brooklyn Velodrome Vintage Wheelmen.
The meeting will take place on Saturday, November 4, 2006.
The BVVW group is comprised of about 25 hardcore certified freaks, who will hangout and talk bike stuff for about 2 hours.The BVVW is a tangent of Gruppo Sportivo Pergolizzi.
This will be an informal gathering of all N.Y. metro area cyclists who share an interest in vintage bicycles and cycling history. As always, youse is all invited.
A different schedule then normal for this Saturday morning is as follows:
11: a.m. to aprox. 1:00 p.m.; Meet at Prospect Park Brooklyn for an informal ride round and round the 3.3 mile loop. I'll wait at The Grecian Shelter (Parkside Ave., opposite the Parade Grounds) for youse to show up.
2:00 p.m. Meet at the work shop of Brooklyn frame builder Johnny Coast for a demonstration on THE "Black Art" !
5:00 p.m. We'll all go to a local eatery to be decided, and chow down, drink and talk the old talk (1930 to 1980) of cycling, our heroes, and their bicycles and parts.
Here's directions to Johnny's shop:
>From Myrtle Ave. and Bushwick Ave.,
travel away from downtown Brooklyn ( go East) on Myrtle,
turn left (North) on Charles pl.
The street dead ends at the shop.
The address of the property is 50 troutman st.
but these directions will get you to the shop entrance around the back.
