Just found my May 1963 edition of Sporting Cyclist and surprisingly there is not a report of the Good Friday meeting of 12th April. As I said the Moulton stunt didn't attract much if any publicity. A tribute magazine however does show Simmy, by 1963 a Peugeot rider, at the Good Friday meet on a very nice all chrome Carlton. I think it is fair comment to descibe the earnings of 1960 pros as modest. Otherwise why would Simpson have bothered selling me a pair of used Peugeot shorts for two quid at the Isle of Man? Somehow I can't see Lance or Tom Boonen bothering. Incidentally you wouldn't believe the quality of the chamois. I guess you need that quality to win Bordeaux- Paris (the first owner not the second!)
