Two style of rivets: solid and hollow. The solid ones are are hammered (peened) so that the end of the rivet is domed on the underside of the cantle plate. The hollow ones are expanded (split) at the end to hold. The hollow ones are easier and faster to use in production and are a cost cutting move. Both styles look the same from the top of the saddle.
