That's a pretty tricky operation, but in some cases it can be done with A LOT of patience. Especially if the decals are not too old. This only applies to vinyl style decals, I don't think it will work with water slide, etc.

You can buy a product called Bestine at an art supply store. It deactivates adhesive and if you are lucky, once it dries it can reactivate (but usually not smoothly). It's nasty stuff so wear gloves and a mask. You can be pretty generous with the stuff, but the best way to apply is with an "oil can" applicator.

To reapply, you can invest in or find someone with a Xyron. It's a small machine that can apply adhesive to pretty much any type of paper or flexible media. Make sure you use a high-tac adhesive roll. Low-tac will not last very long.

You may be better off trying to find replacements or having the originals recreated, as the above is a pretty costly and risky endeavor.
