Just thought I would weigh on the Concave Controversy. My own experience as a rider of these rims is a bit limited; I always preferred lighter rims, and these were definitely not that. They seemed to hold up OK, but had a harsher ride than many of their contemporaries. From a wheelbuider/mechanic's standpoint, I have a low opinion of them. Not only were they hard to lace & true (the spoke wrench problem), but the welded seams were usually ground poorly, and tire seating was a lot more problematic than most other rims. Overall, there were other rims that were a lot less trouble to deal with.
