Gabriel and others:
You are right about modifications don't matter as much as riding. I now feel that riding my bikes are the best use of them. I have been overwhelm ed the last few years by running my bike shop, remodeling and adding a coffee shop and growing the fitness equipment business. and trying to ride the n ew bikes so that I can recommend them to my customers. now with more than ten employees, I want to get back to the basics of what got me into the bike business in the first place, riding them.
I am happy for those of you who can enjoy classic bikes as just a hobby, an d proud for those of you who combine your passion with business.
I am planning on selling the classics I don't plan on riding, a 72 Paramoun t and a 1980 Sarronni, both with Campy nuovo record. even though I bought them in
my size, and I am going to ride my classic favorites regardless of how nice they look and whether they will help me sell modern bikes (how I make my living).Just ri ding will help me sell bikes anyway.
Looking forward to throwing a leg over my Reynolds 531, Nervex lugged 74 P aramount. and my Columbus SP, heart cut out lugged 77 Sparrow, both of which have been ignored too long.
thanks for the good words of encouragement for working on classic bikes..
Oh yeah, I enjoy reading about who rode what when, and what builder built where with what and who supported what teams. and so on.
Classic Rendezvous is cool. Thanks Dale!Robb Rasmussen Brookings, SD
