Offered for sale is a 22in 1951 Thanet Silverlight frame - this is the
type of Thanet with seatstays that cross the seat tube and join to the
top tube a la GT. And with the bottom bracket where the seat and down
tubes join beneath the bottom bracket shell. All tubes are 1in diameter and on this frame are made from Accles and Pollocks Kromo tubing. This frame was finished on the 5/1/90 before being delivered to its original owner in Romford. It has had one owner
who bought it in 1961 who had it re-enamelled in blue with a silver head and down tube panel complete with repro transfers. The paint is very good but does have some marks that need touching up. It has certainly not had a lot of use as it was about 3in too large for its second owner. It comes complete with its original cranked seatpin which are unique to Silverlights and is often missing. It is also fitted with its original headset which has been rechromed. And has a Bayliss Wiley unit
bottom bracket. Top tube length is 22.5in and is 120mm across the rear
ends so is designed for a derailleur gear. I will include a photocopy
of the original build card and a copy of my book on the history of Thanet Cycles. This is a very nice example of a rare frame. I am looking for £750 for it \u2013 shipping will be £65. I can accept payment through Paypal, personal cheque in GBP or
international money order in GBP or Travellers cheques in $.
