Oh what a shame!
What exactly "stonk" about them?
(this is a joke I am attempting to make, albeit poorly)

I am afraid that Joe King's description of Langsetts as "stonkers" is incorrect. That is a Southern expression. Langsetts were northern built frames, from the famous steel city of Sheffield, and would have been described locally as crackers - which must be as worrying to the uninitiated as stonkers!
I will reply at more length with what I know about Langsetts once I have recovered from my wife's birthday celebrations and the associated feeding of what seemed like the 5,000.
