"You have these corporate guys now. I like to say that bicycling is the new golf." -Noah Budnick (Deputy Director at Transportation Alternatives, a nonprofit group that lobbies for bicycle-friendly laws in NYC)
If bicycling becomes "the new golf", as stated by Noah Budnick in the NY Times article, and subsequently generates more interest in our hobby, how would that affect parts supplies? Would many more parts miraculously appear on the market, or would prices for the scant few that are occasionally available, skyrocket? I only hope that if there is a spike in interest in "specialty bicycles", and then "vintage specialty bicycles" that more "bicycle part hoarders" would be inspired to SELL, SELL, SELL!!!
My apologies if this topic has been "beaten-to-death", I've only recently found time to read the Times article.
My apologies for the "over-use" of quotations.
Don't expect to see any "Wall Street Types" on "titanium Gurus" in a Critical Mass ride down Broadway anytime soon.
P.S.- I'll take my "steel Merckx" over a "titanium Guru" any day.
