Subject: [CR]Raleigh lugs....

Back in the day, (especially during the 'Boom Times'), Raleigh used whatever frame bits or components they could get their hands on. The 'Professional' model came with Zeus cranks and/or pedals, the 'Super Course" came with Nervex Pro, Brampton (the REALLY ornate lugs), or Bocama Pro lugs. It really just depended on when/where the frame was built- a lot of lower-end '70's Raleigh's were actually built in Holland by Gazelle. The Dutch-built bikes used the BCM lugs; the Nottingham frames used the Nervex or Brampton lugs. BTW- the 'Super Course' & 'Gran Sport' frames are often posted as 'Reynolds 531' frames; they are in fact 3-tube '531' frames, and most of the 'Super Course' frames have NO Reynolds tubing at all...both frames have the same sport geometry. The Raleigh dealer I worked for in the early '70's had a 6-month waiting list for the more popular models, so we saw huge variation in the spec's on the bikes that we sold!
