It's facinating to follow this discussion about British over the road record breaking. Joe's reference to Alfred West's 1927 record for the London to Bath and back was great to see. Alf was my great uncle and a great story teller. His favorite topics were his record breaking ride on the Bath Road, the 1929 Worlds and his experiences in the London fire brigade during WWII. I would like to find some documentation on his racing career, especially some period photos. Any suggestions from the UK contingent?
