I think someone was talking about large flangs hubs, poss used by Coppi etc, I do have a ButClub,Mag dated 16 Juillet(June? or is it July?)1948 on the front page is Bobet, riding a neat bike with a REAL neat stem, and looks like south of France or? bars, but his wheels have Large flange hubs, I also have several other later issues of Mirror Sprint up to TDF 1954 with Bobet still riding with wheels with Large flange hubs, I have not seen many other riders with bikes with Large flange hubs, several track riders in this time seemed to use them, I know in England in the 50s we used large flange hubs, for the extra strength? but I allways liked small flange myself, seemed lighter, Cheers John Crump OldsmallisgoodBrit, Parker, Co, USA
