Nigel Land writes, via Peter Brown:- in 1986, Ernie hired one of his ex-racers, Nigel Dean, as Sales Manager...Nigel had been a road racer since 1971 and first rode for Falcon in 1978. In fact Nigel Dean had raced since the early sixties. I am holding the result sheet for the 1966 Tour of the Lakes. On the first stage, 90 miles that included Honister Pass Nigel finished with me in the second group six minutes behind the winner Norman Baty (Norman's eldest brother Bill famously featured in the BBC film about the Taylor Brothers). Nigel Dean went on to win a British championship, I went on to well deserved obscurity. Nigel is a Manxman (born in the Isle of Man) and it is remarkable how many good riders have come from that small island Ray Green, Brighton, England
