Subject: [CR]1969 cinelli sc restoration advice and plater recommendation

Dear List, I'm finally ready to bite the bullet and have my 1969 Cinelli SC re-done. The bike currently sports a 20 year old repaint w/ "FlyingC" decals. The original headbadge is intact. The bike also has lots of brazeons which were presumably added at repaint time: top tube brake cable guides, down tube shift lever bosses, water bottle brazeons (very nice w/ little stars), derailleur cable guides over the bb, and the rear derailleur cable housing stop on the drive side chain stay.

Question(s) 1: would ANY of these brazeons have been correct in 1969? I'm quite certain that the water bottle cage brazeons are not original. If I were to remove them, could the resulting holes be repaired, or would the downtube need replacing?

The original owner ordered the bike from cupertino and claims that at the time he ordered it that he explicitly specified NO CHROME anywhere, which is evident in the bikes current finish. I however, like the idea and am considering a chrome finish for this bike's restoration.

Question(s) 2: Any opions on whether this is a good or a bad idea? Can anyone please recommend an experienced and reliable bicycle plater?

Thanks in advance,
Chuck Taylor
