<< ...Continental in their instructions for application of their tubular tire rim cement recommends buffing the rim base and cleaning it with petrol or similar solvent. >>

And we all know (correct?) that that is an awful thing to do, right?

(It leaves a slimey film, needs to be cleaned off itself by yet another "cleaner" solvent, and penetrates small crevices that will eke out and foul up things later.. ) Dale Brown cycles de ORO, Inc. 1410 Mill Street Greensboro, North Carolina 27408 USA 336.274.5959 http://www.cyclesdeoro.com http://www.classicrendezvous.com -----Original Message----- From: sybaspex@tcsn.net To: classicrendezvous@bikelist.org Sent: Thu, 7 Dec 2006 6:20 PM Subject: [CR]Pouring Gasoline (Petrol) on troubled waters

Hi All, It is interesting to note that despite the fear and loathing of gasoline the Continental in their instructions for application of their tubular tire rim cement recommends buffing the rim base and cleaning it with petrol or similar solvent. All the best, Phil Easton, Cambria, California, USA
