john, i do agree w/ all that you say...except that really not knowing any of you personally i would not presume as to whether someone, peter, was defensive or just a little ticked about the correction "tone" by bruce in front of us all...i have read bruce's replies numerous times and am enlightened by the facts....it's the "be pissed at the shop that lied"....i don't think any of us knows if the shop lied to peter.....it's a small world and lieing about what you sell has closed more than one set of store doors....when any of us states this and that about a specific frame set, or recalled tales of our golden days, we do so to best of our recollection and w/ all the facts about provenance that we have....no intention to deceive here....dale would boot a repeat offender without any regrets....there is no group in the english speaking world that get to the bottom of a classic cycle's reason for being like the classicrendezvous people....i am sure we are all a little odd in the good sense of the word. people here share parts across the globe to put a piece right, usually for trade only....no money thank you!!! that is very cool in a world where lieing and cheating have become just another way of doing legitimate business.... maybe peter felt he did his best and was dressed down for an honest post ... like he was lieing w/ a straight face to us...i think not, that is what i mean about the tone. none of us is right 100% of the time....and as a group everyone teams up to get the facts straight....why not skip the shop lied, peter bought into it, now he owes us all an apology bit. he doesn't owe me an apology. and i am glad everyone jumped in to straighten out the facts....no need to make peter feel bad. just make the correction and maybe share a story about a similar transaction that wasn't what it seemed. you know, build a bridge, not a fence. this whole enterprise of our forum is for our entertainment and edification.... a place to share, not show someone up. i personally love heated debate, i sure hate for anyone to presume for me or talk down to me. especially when we're talking about the objects that we love. i never met a bike i couldn't hug, or otherwise improve w/ a little time in my workstand. hands across the water boys and girls. i can't wait til i get the chance to put a face w/ all those that post here. a pretty accomplished bunch, each of us....we each deserve respectful contact here. this is the classic rendezvous, a meeting place, not a battlefield.... facts, debate, stories, a place to share. see ya all later. charlie flaherty baltimore maryland us of a
