For those who may be curious, the seller of the Weigle did respond saying that the bike had been paid for and the deal completed and that the Second Chance offers were both scams as I suspected. Moral of the story - be VERY suspicious of Second Chance offers that don't appear in My Messages in My eBay. It seems to have become almost standard these days for any bike that sells for more than $1000 on eBay to be the subject of a least a couple of bogus eBay Second Chance offers. Unfortunately it pays to be a suspicious SOB these days, but then perhaps it always did. I think the world where one could safely be a trusting person existed only in our dreams.

I've now received two eBay Second Chance offers on this bike. One was pretty transparently a scam, as the contact email was maximlove2100@yahoo.com. The other wasn't obvious, except that the the message did not show up in My Messages in My EBay as a legitimate message sent through eBay normally should. I emailed the seller to ask if he had in fact issue a Second Chance on this bike, but haven't received an answer yet. Is the high bidder on the list? If so, perhaps he can confirm that he has completed the purchase and that the Second Chance is therefore definitely a scam.

Meantime, just in case the Second Chance is legit, anybody care to offer an opinion as to whether a thousand dollars is a good price on this bike?
