Well, I think for both Eddy and DeRosa this was a business. DeRosa worked all night to deliver a new machine for the next days race, per Eddy's specs. He could build a complete, presentable frame in four hours, deliver it to the painter for a quick coat of paint and be ready at the starting line for the next days stage. None of the other 23 frames he built for Merckx was good enough.
