Charlie Young suggested that I introduce myself to the list and he is correct. I have been remiss in that respect. I have been reading everyones posts primarily for items that are available for sale. I am not a collector of vintage bicycles because I build all my own frames. I guess its not fair to say I don't collect because I have about 13 of my own bikes. Lately I have been concentrating building randonneus (what's the plural?) on either 700C or 650B wheels and on touring bikes either expedition or light to medium weight tourers. One of my frames is currently on tour from Prudhoe Bay, AK to Terra del Fuego, Argentina. It (the rider) is now spending the winter in Seattle. I have been building frames as a hobby since 1988 and so far have built 73 frames. #71 and 72 are awaiting paint and 73 is under construction. As far as my background goes, I have an undergraduate degree in Economics and spent 23 years of my life as an Air Force officer. Retired from the Air Force in 1993 and have been working in the computer field ever since. I ride as much as possible but getting too old to race but not too old to tour. I live at the foot of the Black Hills of South Dakota about 25 miles from Mt Rushmore. We have great riding here especially with the construction of the Mickelson Trail a 108 mile rails to trails conversion through the spine of the Black Hills. Absolutely gorgeous in the fall. So if you're ever in the area and need to know where to ride just give me a shout and if I can I'll probably ride with you.
