Not only is this not the worst bike in the world, it is not even the worst of its type. At about the same time, a US company called The Original Plastic Bike Co., or something like that, advertised, exhibited at shows and perhaps even took orders for an all-plastic bike which, IIRC had plastic rims and plastic spokes not that much thicker than steel ones. I think there have been a few discussions of this on the list some years ago, and the consensus was that the prototype was not rideable as the wheels would have immediately collapsed under rider weight. The Itera was at least probably rideable, for anyone misguided enough to do so.

Anyone else remember more details about the US bike?

The following link gives proof that the bikes were produced from 1982 to 1985 so i consider them on topic. Has anyone ever heard of the bad reputation these bikes have? I am curious if the riding an service qualities were as bad as the enclosed link stated.
