Subject: [CR]Slow pay / no pay e-bay sale

I recently sold my first bike on e-bay- hallelujah, huzzah! Just one problem...it's five days after the auction closed, and no payment yet. I sent a polite e-mail on day 3, reminding the "winner" that their invoice is now due & payable: no answer, yet. The erstwhile buyer is not a private party; they have a rather large e-bay store (thousands of items), and have also posted items for sale on the CR list (where I first dealt with them). It took them 15 days after my payment was sent, to ship the order I placed to them; but since the goods were as advertised (and at good prices), I decided that that the slow shipping was an anomaly that I could live with (they also have an enviably high positive feedback rating). I guess what I am asking is this: How long is long enough? At what point should I write off the sale and find another buyer? What is the accepted ettiqutte for a situation like this? I've spent many years fixing & selling bikes for a living, but this e-tail stuff is new to me, and every transaction is a learning experience...I would appreciate all tips, feedback, & comments.

Happy New Year to all!!! Larry Myers, Portland ,Oregon, USA curmudgeon1957@yahoo.com
