Subject: [CR]Cup Removal - New Cyclus Tools

CRs:

FYI, I saw on the website "Bike Tools, Etc." that Cyclus makes hub cup removal tools specifically for Campy hubs, both old (NR/SR) and new (2006). I haven't used these tools, but the setup seems similar to what others on CR have recently described:

Here is the Bike Tools web page (search under Cyclus Tools All, then Hub and Axle):

http://www.biketoolsetc.com/index.cgi?id=159729234686&c=Tools&sc=CYCLUS-TOOLS,-ALL&tc=Hub-and-Axle

Presumably Dale and other CR-list shop owners might be able to order these for you if you needed them.

For hub cup removal, I was fortunate enough to buy from Bicycle Classics (Michael Cone, several years ago) a hub cup puller that works like a Campy crank extractor, except in reverse. (It pulls the cup out instead of pushing an axle out.) Unfortunately this elegant tool is no longer available, as far as I know.

For installation of new cups, I've successfully used the bearing press (track axle & two locknuts) shown in the Loose Screws web page (search under axle sealed bearing):

http://www.loosescrews.com/index.cgi?d=single&c=Tools&sc=Axle%20Sealed%20Bearing&tc=&item_id=TH-HPFS&id=950318128882

You could probably make one out these of spare track hub parts if you needed to.
