Jim Redcay studied pretty hard on Bill Boston's bikes and almost always used this type of attachment. My later bike at the bottom of these Cirque photos http://www.classicrendezvous.com/Events/Cirque/Cirque_01/Cirq_show01_3.htm shows a more refined treatment without the excess braze material.
