CRs:

The silver anodized Mavic MA2 rims did exist. I do not know how early the silver anodized finish was available, but the model is MA2 "Argent" (argent = silver i.e., soft silver anodized.)

I bought two pairs of these, in the modern label style (green with yellow Mavic oval), from a UK mail order house. My last purchase was on Dec 22 1998, and the rims are noted on the receipt as "MA2 Argent".

I was told by my USA LBS that the "argent" silver anodized rims were simply not imported unless you wanted to special order them thru Mavic, with a minimum purchase of something like 150 pairs (all at once).

The rim label remains the same between MA2 and MA2-argent. Only the MA2 standard finish is subtly brighter (without any supplemental polishing).

Lastly, Mavic also did a hard-silver anodized MA2 rim. The finish was a grainy sort of pewter silver, also with modern labels. I don't remember the model name. I sold it a while back, because I had only one and I didn't have a use for it.
