Subject: [CR]Mince Pie Run & American Sherbet

We had our annual mince pie run today and only six took part. The newest was 51 years old, in these PC British times we are not allowed to say eldest or oldest anymore as it is regarded as ageist. Looks like petrol is now verbotten on the chain cleaning front as well. The carcinogenic factor was of no concern to those Buddhist monks back in the 60's. Anyway six took part on a straight out fifty ride I would like to call it a dash but it was more a slow laughter ridden meander. The bikes consisted of a Hetchins, Claud, Mottram, Wilkins, Condor and Walvale. The oldest guess thats alright with bikes was 1954 and the youngest 1976. Mostly with modern kit. Did I here the purists cry sacrilege? We had a van and car at the other end to chauffeur us home so that we could all go on the lash on the sherbet. Lash is a booze up and sherbet is slang for beer. This pub served some wonderful draught beer but as the guest beer they had bottled Sierra Nevada Pale Ale. This is a wonderful beer and does America proud if I had to nit pick it is a little sweet for Brit tastes but at 5.6% Vol this is probably to be expected. This beer is akin in taste to Hopback Summer Lightening and hopefully some of you will get over here to try it someday. I just hope and pray that when I get over to the states that there are lots of breweries as good as Sierra. Best wishes Joe.
