Peter & Eric; Thank you for the help on this. I changed both auctions, and pulled the 1950s statement. This is why at the bottom of my auction page I put the following disclaimer.

"My record and reputation on Ebay as an honest seller is very important to me, and all auction ads are based on my knowledge of the item on sale. As my knowledge is not perfect, if you see a possible error in my ad, please feel free to write me through Ebay"

I stated collecting about 12-13 years ago, and unlike some on the list whohave knowledhe that goes back much further, mine does not, so I rely on other scources, old catalogues etc to help date componants. It's difficult at best to accumulate all this knowledge in a short time span.

I have a stem like that in an 11cm length that came as OEM on my 77 Raleigh Super Course. The flush mount expander bolt gives it away as a (late?) 70's item. I have an older similar stem with an exposed hex head expander bolt.
