Subject: [CR]GB "New Style" Stems

IIRC the '62 Holdsworthy Aids catalog is the first the list the "new style" GB stem with the big "GB" in an oval seen on so many Raleigh's in the 70's. I think the early versions of this stem are really quite attractive, much nicer than the later versions. This early one has a raised boss around the quill bolt and nice crisp details. I have a 4" version on my '58 Hetchins. By the 70's the raised boss was gone replaced by an ungainly angled flat while the molds must have been worn resulting in a significant loss in detail quality...really a different stem altogether in my opinion.
