Rod, I presume that you are not a professional craftsman? I have my opinions, but am willing to defer to more trained lug eyes as to the hideousness or not, and any artisan who has been doing the work long enough, is (hopefully) very likely to be able to take the heat of criticism, be it of the delicate variety or the more acute. Why put out products if you don't have the confidence to back it up? People who make things for a living, there is the tendency to sometimes lose fresh contact with what you are doing, to the point of not being able to stand back and look at things objectively, for any number of reasons, sort of the way trash can build up around the house without one noticing. Sometimes a jab to the ribs is just what we need. Not referring to Rivendell, but there is enough ugly stuff out there in the world to justify everything passing through the light of scrutiny and possible criticism. Let it be a good thing, albeit yes feelings can sometimes get hurt. Brian is a straight shooter, they must know that at Rivendell as well.
