Tom Martin asked:
"Years ago Bicycle Guide did a side by side test of 4 bikes: Lugged steel, Tigged steel, tigged aluminum, and one other which I forget. I also forget the results. Anyone have a copy of the article?"
I remember two different comparison articles. The first was in Road Bike Action, and it was a comparison of three GT Edge (I think that was the model) frames... Ti, aluminum, and steel - all tigged. As I recall, steel (Excel Podium) won, but Ti was close. They all hated the aluminum.
The second article was in Bicycle Guide and was a comparison of Torelli frames made from four different Columbus steels. All I remember was that Aelle and EL-OS were two of the frames (Neuron and Brain might have been the other two), and plain old straight gauge Aelle was the overall winner in the judgement of the riders. I don't think I have the magazine anymore, but I remember the article because I didn't feel so bad about riding an Aelle-R Torpado after reading it.
