The test bikes would have to have identical geometry and materials, otherwise we're just comparing two different bike designs rather than build methods.

I am not aware of any such as doing a comparison of the US, Japanese and Taiwanese Rivendell made/marketed frame but I think it would be interesting to read. Who would be the best venue to conduct the test? Bicycling Magazine? Vintage Bicycle Quarterly? Asphalt (are they still publishing), The Rivendell Reader? Interesting thought!
