Model name such as Ventoux will probably refer just to the bend rather than the engraving pattern. Most of mine don't have a model name stamped on them, but the Ventouxs generally have a deeper drop than the unnamed ones I prefer.
I have heard that the more ornate leafy pattern was made for Dawes bikes, which coincides with my own observations, but they are usually stamped GB at one end.
Meanwhile, in light of recent ebay auctions, make friends with the Bank of England.
