This probably doesn't help as you've probably already found that the seller won't accept it, but I've bought many items from Europe including several from France, and always used PayPal. The only place I'm sure accepts USPS International money orders is Canada, although I think maybe they work in Mexico also. PayPal is infinitely easier, as they handle the currency exchange and and nick you less on the rate than most alternatives. It is such a royal pain dealing with obtaining cashiers checks or money orders in euros (or pounds) that I'll always offer to pay the PayPal fees if the seller will accept PayPal. One seller in UK doesn't list PayPal as accepted on his auctions, but if you email him offering to add the PayPal fees, he'll always accept, at least if he knows you

i know there are some folks here who do bike business with people in france regularly. i have mailed cash there previously, and had no trouble. however, i am about to send my first substantial amount of money to somebody there (for an appropriate on-topic item, of course). i am going to send an international money order, but have never done that before. i would like to avoid western union, as i have had problems with them in the past. if possible, i'd like for something to work similar to the way a domestic money order works from the USPS (i.e. i get a certified check and then can just mail that off, the seller then just can deposit that). i checked on the USPS website, and their international money orders are not accepted in france. any suggestions are encouraged.

please advise
thank you
