Just finished setting up the Hetchins Spyder I recently acquired. I bought it from its first owner, who now lives in Marin County (north of San Francisco). My wife and I drove there from the Los Angeles area last weekend to pick up the bike and have a brief vacation in the neighborhood--visited Muir Woods and the Point Reyes National Seashore, two insanely beautiful places, and had a wonderful dinner at the Olema Inn. Also good bicycling in the area, as well.
The interesting aspect of this bike is its originality--almost exactly as it came from Hetchins in 1974. Only replacements are a couple minor pieces of hardware. It also includes a custom-made rack with the bike's serial number stamped on it. I hadn't known that Hetchins made such things.
I had hoped to bring it to the Pasadena ride this weekend.
Unfortunately, I'm currently suffering from some medical problems that
you really don't want to hear about, but they obviate any bicycling. So,

By the way, the guy who sold it to me has a classic Cinelli, which he plans to sell. He goes by lbburrow on eBay. I don't know when he will list it, but you might want to keep an eye out for it.
