Like joel metz said, i have never had a problem mailing cash money to
europe. Never have done over $100US yet, but I have done 10-20
transactions this way. I just go to the American express office here
in philly and change dollars for Euros and mail it registered to
Europe.
I guess when you start to get over $100, it starts to become scary,
but that would be when I start to think about other options.
Money orders become a hassle for them, so I try to make it as easy as
I can. Generally, all the people I have dealt with, were collectors in
some respect and were very professional. But you have to remember
there are some mom&pops out there, who just got a computer, selling
their old junk, and have maybe never seen a US money order before and
think it is a fake.
I have been told by a couple of Italian sellers that to change small
amounts of US dollars cost them too much in fees to make it worthwhile
for them to do it.
I went to Wachovia bank here on the east coast, and they will change
dollars to Euros but they charge you $15 and it takes a couple days. I
did not ask about wiring though.
