During the last five years I have nothing but unbelievably good luck with list members. About five years ago I sold a half dozen or so items, and took a chance sending out the orders before the checks arrived. In every case I was sent a check as promised. Last year I sent out a request for a Campy crank spindle and two Dura Ace crank dust covers. Two different list members sent me these items at no charge. This week I sold two freewheels to two different sellers. One is a couple we all know and love, and the other is a gentleman I am not familiar with. I expect both transactions to be effortless. An interaction with a list member is generally like a trip back in time 50 years, when scams were really rare and interesting. Nowadays, they are as common as gansta' rap heard blaring on some car radio, disturbing the peace of even the nicest neighborhoods.
