In consolidation mode now so I am going to sell off quite a few bikes just to make room and money at the same time. Up for sale are two bikes that started the 10 speed derailleur bike craze in the US. Notice I did not use the term lightweight because although they fit the description they were anything but light. First the one 10 speed bike that holds the record for most sold ever but not this very first year model. I am discribing the first year 1960 Schwinn Varsity 8 speed in beautiful candy apple red. Check out the photos here...

Nice condition with only some decal loss but check out the Simplex Tour de France rear derailleur and suicide front. This is a 26 inch wheel bike that first year and measures 56 inch square. Nice Ideale original saddle that really looks beautiful. Steel Stronglight chain rings and Astabula one piece crank. 8 Speed decal and checkerboard also and did you notice that winged head tube badge. All around nice bike for the collector who has everything but the harder to find first year Varsity. Asking $700 and will pick up shipping for CR members.

Next we have the big brother of the Varsity. A bit more lightweight and now a true 10 speed the Schwinn Continental first year 1960 also. This beauty has some decal loss also but you can see most of it is there. Same Tour de France rear and suicide front Simplex shifting system. Beautiful Schwinn coppertone color with armour Knight decal coat of arms. Same Stronglight chain rings with Astabula cranks. Now we have moved up to real 27 inch wheels, Rigida. This one measures 51 seat tube and 56 top tube. Here are the photos...

Nice original Continental round head badge and built solid as a brick ... well you know the rest. This one is the easier of the two to find so I will ask $500 with again shipping thrown in for a CR member.

There you have it, the two that started it all in the states. Hate to see them go but we have been good company for over 10 years now so it is time we grew apart. If you have any questions please ask and thank you.
