How are KOF frames not the real thing? They may not be collectible (yet), and they may not be on-topic according to timeline (KOF is on-topic of course), but they are still the real thing. I think a current production KO F is every bit as much the real thing as a 70s, or 50s, bike. As I understand Mick's reason for suggesting 70s and 80s components, he is saying that just because you might not want to put up with the compromises of recent component groups doesn't mean you can't enjoy a fine KOF frame.
