Late 70s I read a lot of Cycling magazine issues, especially when they (Keith Bingham that is) tested one of the many bikes built by small builders. One issue had a Pete Matthews Special, extremely lightweight at 1 5 to 16 pounds ('it hardly made a dent in the carpet'), I believe a time trialling bike with one very big chainring, and 531 SL tubing.

Does anyone know more about Matthews, and what happened to him? I have neve r read or heard about him since then, seems a real shame.
