Hi all, For sale: one pair of Lyotard "Marcel Berthet" Model 23 steel pedals, to fit 9/16 x 20 cranks, $30 shipped USPS w/ insurance. The pedals are stamped "Made in France," " Berthet Lyotard," and the wrench flats are stamped "L" and "R," so they're aimed at an English-speaking market. There's no model number on them; I think they're Model 23 from my limited research such as through Speedplay's site. They have a cool curved platform to facilitate entry into the clip, and the platform has an integral raised ridge to fit the cleat. The steel dust caps are stamped "Lyotard Made in France." Sheldon Brown's rave review of the design made me want to keep them to try them out, but I gotta simplify, and I don't have a French bike anymore. I'd hazard they're "very good:" they're used, but I don't see any road rash or wrench twist-offs etc. and they're not at all worn -- they look like someone tried them out a time or so, then took 'em off and they accumulated dirt on a toolbench. They had sort-of dried grease when I got them a year ago; I haven't serviced them, tho I ran some oil in and adjusted the cones and they spin smoothly and freely. There are scattered tiny dots of surface rust; I'm not up to speed on finishes and have not tried to clean/buff/etc. them, but I think they'd clean up fine.
Someone must have a bike that needs these pedals, so here's a peculiar, naive request: pls respond only if you have a bike for them, not to stash them (like I did; I'm reforming).
Email me w/ any additional info I should supply, and I can send pix (be forewarned I have a day job and 5-yr-old twins, so delays are possible!). I pulled price out of the air, so if I'm gouging please let me know a reasonable number. If I'm somehow breaking the selling rules here, let me know.
