I believe there is a very big difference between any vehicle that can be accelerated by the turn of a wrist, push of one foot of other minimal physical action and a bicycle which makes you perspire at some point.

Ergo the pricing systems of these probably cannot compared.

If you look at the people in Daytona or any other bike meet you will see that a large part are there for their own vanity. A Paris-Roubaix finisher only looks attractive to a very small clientele.

A motorcycle or car offers infinitely more surface for airbrushers to wank on, thereby making each item more "personal". We are exited by nice box striping or clean lug lining (I will not get into Colnago's OT airbrush crimes).

NOBODY is interested in the framebuilder of a hog or a Packard!

Aside from all being methods of propulsion comparing bikes to motorcycles or cars is like comparing apples and pairs; most of us learned in school that that just does not work. Comparing pricing systems of either has just the same flaw. Try marketing a sanitary napkin to a man.

If there is no interest in your product from the start, then forget marketing it to that clientele. It's as easy as that. 30k prices will not change that. Having your bike in Playboy mag will not change that. 90% of the population decides if it like a bike by this criteria: "Nice color."

Everybody selling something need to find the market for that item. After that it is just producing to meet the demand. Somebody said "barking up a wrong tree" in a previous post. That is just it.

Most classic artist had to die to get their work appreciated.

Ride on, kim
