My Father used to tell me that when he was young a Bianchi was a luxury item. Also, cycling was considered a bourgeois excercise to be condemned by the marxists, and it was indeed so over here (ref.: La Bici e il Sol dell'Avvenire, which I passed to Benjamin Maso).
Thanks God bikes are so cheap nowadays. That's why I have managed to collect quite a few such vintage beauties (still counting!); e simply not fashionable over here and won't be, hopefully, for a good while.
