Great Story!

I have no idea if the suggestions are accurate or not, but I do know that Ad rates in our "big city" newspaper are just a little higher these days! a SINGLE full page, back of a section, or well-placed page inside the front section in colour with run you $18,000 in the Toronto Star, or Globe and Mail. But you get that great rate only if you commit to about 50+ pages a year....

We spent about that amount-mostly on modest sized, straightforward newspaper ads surrounded by heavy borders-just to let everyone know we were open for business. Now that we're established, we find that the same simple, direct advertising approach still works best for us.
