Umm...no...not matte black... As I recall - the term for the "real" matte black finish back in the day was a color referred to as "Anthracite" over in the Colnago camp. Fifty cent terminology for "charcoal". A great color in person! The factory finish had a bit more burnished look to it. This DOES look like GM paint. Was sad to find Anthracite unavailable locally - even from Marcel Calborn at Celo Europa in the early 80's - when I made the youthful decision to have my "Gabus Green" ride repainted. :~( I should have left well enough alone - but was PO'd at the lack of the option and had it repainted a gloss black and added braze on cable guides and shifter bosses at Medici. Bike was subsequently stolen a few years ago - likely a karmic payback for the mods. In all seriousness - if anyone runs across a 58 c/c 70's Colnago Super - with the aforementioned mods - what would have been the early 80's "wrap around" decals - AND evidence of repair to a cracked BB that Medici repaired...keep me in mind. I miss that ride!
