Ah but then we have the court of last resort. Where does a bike today of say 8/10 quality sell relative to its circa 1975 cost? Very few production bikes break even but Raleigh, Peugeot, Schwinn do fairly well. Most custom builders do poorly. High priced bikes- Hetchins, Cinelli Herse, Singer do well. Hard to get bikes do well- Cinelli, Pogliaghi, DeRosa for example do well. If too obscure, like say Freschi, a bike does not do well, The best value producers like Motobecane, Trek and Marinoni do not do very well. Some bikes just don't change hands- seen any Hurlows lately?

Actually, good bikes that sold in big numbers like Raleigh, Peugeot, Schwinn have a big sentimental market today.

I would love for a UK specialist to explain, to the vague extent I have above, how it all shakes out in that market, now and then.
