I had one of these frames pass through my hands a long time ago. I believe I recall Dani right and that the dropout had a standard threaded derailleur mount.

With the resources on this list, getting a French BB is not a problem.

> Welcome to the list Ty. Its a good thing you joined. I'm not

\r?\n> sure that's

\r?\n> a Gitane you've bought. All this talk of non threaded Simplex

\r?\n> dropouts

\r?\n> don't match the link shown. It's supposed to be a Gitane, and I

\r?\n> know I've

\r?\n> seen those dropouts once before, but they aren't the Simplex

\r?\n> dropouts

\r?\n> we're all used to seeing on Gitanes and Peugeots. They're notched

\r?\n> like a

\r?\n> Campy and have a number of lightening cutouts in them and

\r?\n> vertical. Can't

\r?\n> tell from the pics, but the hanger might be threaded. Can the

\r?\n> cognoscenti

\r?\n> have a look at this? It may not even be a French frame for all I

\r?\n> can

\r?\n> tell, lugs don't look like any Gitane's I've worked on, and its a

\r?\n> repaint,

\r?\n> no decals.

\r?\n>

\r?\n> Hi everybody. My name is Ty Rilleau and I love the classics. I

\r?\n> am a

\r?\n> third generation leather worker and have a solid appreciation for

\r?\n> function and form, not necessarily in that order. I saw this

\r?\n> Gitane

\r?\n> frame on The Ebay and had to snatch it up. Primarily for the rear

\r?\n> dropouts. My primary question is how I would find a suitable fork

\r?\n> (60

\r?\n> cm frame). I don't care about anything but function, as price is

\r?\n> starting to factor in. My second question is have I gotten over

\r?\n> my

\r?\n> head

\r?\n> in terms of compatibility. Does anybody have any info on how to

\r?\n> get a

\r?\n> good bb, or the headset threading, or the (fill in the blank). I

\r?\n> would

\r?\n> love any info on the frame too. You help is greatly appreciated.

\r?\n> Thanks, Ty
