Not quite the answer to your problem Ray, but WheelBuilder.com had a booth at the Framebuilders Show at San Jose the other month and had two currently made wood rims on display. One had a conventional tubular profile (somewhat squarish), the other looked like it had a bastide(?) profile, (raised rib down the center). The rims looked exceptional!!!
