Time for another of our irregularly scheduled get together/rides.
When: Sunday April 23rd (weather permitting), Meet around 8:30am, be ready to ride by 9:00am.
Where: Our humble abode -Aurora, CO. Let me know if you're interested in coming and I'll send you our address.
What: Social paced ride to REI flagship at Confluence Park and back - Roughly 35-45 miles (we can add more if we feel like it with loops at Cherry Creek State Park).
Details: There is a Starbucks (or similar) there at REI with patio seating. We can ride there, have a coffee, snack... and then ride back. Also, if anyone is up for another cup o' joe the bike shop near our home has a built in coffee shop with a couple of classic Italian bikes hanging up (one sporting a Campag 50th group). We can always head over there on the way back.
The majority of the ride will be on bike/multi use paths (Cherry Creek, High line canal...). While nice and wide and generally not too busy there will be other users walking, cycling, etc in places. So we'll need to keep our pace in check. I know some are opposed to riding trails but these are an excellent means to get to downtown Denver and thus to REI. So if you don't like riding bike trails this may not be the ride for you.
Also, about the only climb on the route will be coming back up the back side of Cherry Creek dam. A short, not overly steep climb. So, if you feel inclined (pun intended) this would be a good fixed gear ride.
And I plan on having coffee (theme going here ?) and bagels or donuts on hand before the ride. (FYI - there are restrooms at Cherry Creek State Park and REI).
So, polish up those velos and come for a fun ride.
